PDF/A is the type of PDF used for Unlockit. It is a safer PDF, useful for long-term preservation because it incorporates all types of fonts and avoids dynamic content, ensuring a consistent presentation over time.

If you encounter the “Unable to convert to PDF/A file” error, we suggest you try the following:

Instructions for MS Word (Windows)

To save your file as PDF/A in Office for Windows:

1. Go to “File” > “Save As”;

2. Click on “More options”;

3. Choose PDF as the file type;

4. Click “Options” and “PDF Options”, select “PDF/A Format”.

5. Save the file.

Note: There's no such option in Office for Mac, so you'll have to use one of the options below.

Instructions for Adobe Acrobat

To save your file as PDF/A in Adobe Acrobat:

1. Under “All tools” (left-hand side menu), scroll to the bottom and click “See more”. Select the “Apply PDF patterns” option;

2. Click on “Save as PDF/A”;

3. Choose the location where you want to save the PDF/A file.

Alternatively, you can use an online tool to convert your documents. Just search your search engine for “PDF to PDF/A. We suggest that you use a tool approved by your Organization for security reasons.
